What Is Your Foundation?

by Allan Little on September 21, 2009

A building needs a foundation. A bridge requires strong and deep piers to achieve it’s span. A well functioning society thrives on laws based on justice and fairness. We as human beings, need a nutritional foundation as well. This should be a staple that promotes good health. Brown rice is an excellent choice.

Whether you realize it or not, you have chosen a foundation that your diet is based on. If your foundation is bacon, butter or refined sugars just look in the mirror to see if you are happy with the results. Are you on medication? Could you run for your life if you had to?

Do you want your blood, skin and cells made from Cheetos and Funyons?

Or does unprocessed real food make more sense?

brown rice and fresh vegetables

We are lucky because our bodies are so amazing that we can make small changes and see dramatic results fairly quickly. If you did nothing else other than chew your food longer, incorporate brown rice into your diet, and eat more vegetables you would feel better and look healthier in just a few days.

I haven’t had real Cheetos in years, but I often bought the Cheetos at Whole Foods. I had convinced myself that they were “healthy” Cheetos. But alas, they were not. Little Bear brand “Lite Cheddar Puffs”. Since I’m not eating processed foods any more, they are officially off the list.

Sue
The cute little bear, the word “Lite” and the fact that they were sold at Whole
Foods Mkt were the of salty-crunchy-cheesy siren song that lured you into the deep dark waters of the junk food whirlpool.

I stopped eating refined sugar in ‘84 and went back to eating real food. White flour, in fact most flour products came out of my diet in 1992.

Real, nutritious food and proper sleep and daily exercise are the building blocks of my foundation!

Joan, No wonder you look so great! I didn’t realize you made the break so LONG ago. Congrats! It’s taken me forever to get here. I’m curious, have you ever had a relapse and had some sugar sneak into your diet in the last 25 years?

I only just saw this! Sugar doesn’t sneak into my diet, but I have perhaps half a dozen times picked up a sweet. Mostly after my mother died I was acting out with food.

I am sure you know that alcohol metabolizes like sugar, so I have to be very careful about vino!
