Hot Pockets Are Not A Food Group

I saw the new Hot Pockets commercial recently and then noticed they have their own section in the frozen food aisle of my local grocery store. Yikes! I didn’t know they were that popular.

NewsFlash: Hot Pockets are not a food group! In fact, in my opinion,  they aren’t even real food.

When you make your food choices, being able to walk while eating shouldn’t be the main criteria for your purchase. Hot Pockets new ad campaign, Eat Freely, features grandma types and fuddy-duddy old men as the only people who actually sit down at a table when they eat. Young hip kids are doing fun stuff and eating hot pockets on the go.  If you aren’t eating while in motion, then I guess you aren’t really living life to it’s fullest.

Sitting down to eat a meal is incredibly beneficial for proper digestion. Not to mention, many people think that the food that they eat when they are standing up doesn’t really count. I’ve been guilty of this numerous times. Whenever Allan has seen me standing and snacking in the kitchen he loves to say, “Only livestock eat standing up!” It’s not easy sometimes, but your body will thank you if you sit down at a table and eat consciously

Jim Gaffigan is a very funny guy. He has a “Hot Pocket” standup routine that really cracks me up. My favorite line is,

“I’ve never eaten a hot pocket and then thought afterwards, ‘I’m glad I ate that.’ I usually think, ‘I’m going to die. I paid for that?’”

If you want to get sick, then Eat Freely and enjoy your Hot Pockets. You see, the U.S. Food Industry doesn’t care about the quality of the food on our grocery shelves, they only care about making money.

If you eat Hot Pockets, boycotting them could be the first step towards your own personal Health Care Reform.

This food is the polar opposite of “real food”. Seriously, please don’t eat Hot Pockets! Real grains and veggies are a much better value all the way around.
